Billing & Payments

This section explains how billing works in CloudRaya, how usage is calculated, and where to monitor costs, payments, and invoices across your projects.

CloudRaya uses a usage-based, hourly billing model, allowing you to pay only for the resources you actually consume, without long-term commitments or upfront contracts.

How Billing Works in CloudRaya

Billing in CloudRaya is resource-driven and usage-based.

Key principles:

  • Charges are calculated per hour
  • Each service is billed independently
  • Billing is tied to projects, not individual users
  • Costs stop automatically when billable resources are removed or stopped

This model provides transparency and flexibility for both development and production workloads.

Billing Units and Charge Types

Different services generate charges in different ways, depending on their nature.

Common examples:

  • Compute services

Virtual Machines and Kubernetes nodes are billed per hour based on their specifications.

  • Storage services

Storage usage (VM disks, snapshots, object storage, container registry) is billed per hour based on allocated or used capacity.

  • Network resources

Public IP addresses and related services generate hourly charges while active.

  • Add-on and marketplace services

Some services include license fees or marketplace pricing models, which are reflected as separate billing entries.

All charges are recorded automatically and can be reviewed in detail through billing pages.

Account Balance Types

CloudRaya uses two balance types to handle payments:

Cloud Credit

Cloud Credit is your primary balance used to pay for hourly usage and services.

  • Deducted automatically for eligible charges
  • Can be topped up at any time
  • Used when Coins are unavailable or not applicable

Coins

Coins are promotional or voucher-based credits.

  • Used before Cloud Credit when eligible
  • Typically applied to specific services or promotions
  • Cannot always be used for all charge types

The system automatically determines which balance is applied for each charge.

Billing Scope and Project Structure

Billing in CloudRaya is organized by project.

This means:

  • Each project has its own usage and cost breakdown
  • The same account can manage multiple projects independently
  • Billing data can be filtered and analyzed per project

This structure helps teams separate environments such as development, staging, and production.

Important Notes

  • Billing is calculated hourly, not monthly flat-rate
  • Deleting a resource stops future charges but does not remove past usage records
  • Some resources (such as snapshots or storage) may continue to incur charges even if a VM is deleted
  • Billing data is retained for auditing and reporting purposes

Understanding resource lifecycle is important to avoid unexpected costs.
