DNS Bucket FAQs

This page covers common questions about DNS Bucket, including domain ownership verification, DNS delegation, record management, propagation behavior, and troubleshooting.

General DNS Bucket

Q: What is DNS Bucket used for?

A:

DNS Bucket is a centralized DNS management service that lets you verify domain ownership, delegate DNS resolution to CloudRaya, and manage DNS records such as A, CNAME, MX, and TXT directly from your account.

Q: Do I need to move my domain registration to CloudRaya to use DNS Bucket?

A:

No. You only need to update your nameservers at your current domain registrar to point to CloudRaya’s DNS servers.

Domain Verification & Delegation

Q: Why do I need to verify my domain before managing records?

A:

Verification confirms that you own or control the domain before CloudRaya allows you to manage DNS records. This prevents unauthorized changes.

Q: What is the difference between verification and delegation?

A:

  • Verification proves ownership using a temporary CNAME record
  • Delegation happens when you update your nameservers to CloudRaya, making DNS Bucket the authoritative DNS provider

Both steps are required for full DNS control.

Q: How long does DNS propagation take?

A:

Nameserver and record changes can take minutes to up to 24 hours, depending on global DNS resolvers and caching behavior.

Record Management

Q: What types of DNS records can I manage?

A:

DNS Bucket supports common records, including:

  • A / AAAA
  • CNAME
  • MX
  • TXT
  • SRV

Q: Can I use DNS Bucket with services outside CloudRaya?

A:

Yes. You can point records to any external service, such as third-party hosting, email providers, or SaaS platforms.

Troubleshooting & Operations

Q: My domain is verified but not resolving. What should I check?

A:

  • Confirm that your nameservers are set to CloudRaya’s DNS servers
  • Check for DNS propagation delays
  • Verify there are no conflicting NS records at your registrar

Q: HTTPS is not working for my app domain. Is this a DNS issue?

A:

Often, yes. Make sure:

  • Your CNAME points to the correct CloudRaya endpoint
  • There are no conflicting A or CNAME records
  • DNS changes have fully propagated

Q: Can I delete a domain from DNS Bucket safely?

A:

Yes, but once deleted:

  • DNS resolution through CloudRaya stops
  • All managed records are removed Make sure you have updated nameservers or DNS records elsewhere before deleting.
